Websites Helping Brick and Mortar Stores Stay Profitable
Web sales are helping brick-and-mortar stores stay profitable! That’s the subject of a recent article in the Detroit Free Press. Allison Bell Schwartz interviewed retail management consultant George Whalin, who said the increase in Web shopping is “fueled by retailers’ investment in their sites, the ability to compare prices online and the decline of in-store inventories.”
According to Whalin, budget-conscious consumers who do! n’t want to splurge are hunting online for bargains with growing frequency. In fact, Whalin believes that the Web channel will be a contributing factor in the economy’s big turnaround!
“Online sales are going to help propel us out of this recession,” he told Schwartz.
And, Whalin adds, consumers will continue using the Web to purchase goods and services after the economy rebounds because of its convenience!
“As we begin to get back to shopping and we begin to buy more, the online place is going to be the place we do it just purely because of the convenience of it all.”
Enjoy, post comments…I’d love to know your thoughts.
