Give value and create deep relationships and you will go farther than Technology can ever take you.

In my business of product brokering, web sites and business owner development, I work with business owners and individuals. I help them to find the best web technology and solution for their business. I help them learn how to create a more powerful web presence and I help them to create significant income using tools and systems.

“Technology does not run an enterprise, relationships do” - Patricia Fripp

So I talk to a lot of people. You can call me a sales person but I more aptly think of myself as a Mentor and Relationship Manager. I strive to better my networking, communication and relationship building skills. Not because I want to be better at sales. But because I want to be better at offering value to others and the best way to do that is to get to know them better.

I often hear objections from my clients and students when I tell them that they need to be better at networking, communication and relationships. Here are some of the most common:

“I don’t want to sell or promote myself or a product.”
“I hate marketing, I feel like a prostitute.”
“I want people to use my products and services because they like the company, not because they like me.”
“I’d rather be home with my kids then out networking.”

What do you think makes people resistant to relating to closely to others in business?

I saw a powerful woman speak recently named Dinah Liversidge. She was able to relate to people one on one in a powerful way. You felt better about yourself when you spoke with her. In addition, she was able to bring a room of 100+ people to their feet in ovation at the end of her talk because she is such an expert at communication and creating relationships. And I believe she is so skilled at networking and proving her value to others because of two reasons. First she has a “givers gain” philosophy. She is more concerned about lifting others up than about self-promotion. Second, she is willing to give of herself emotionally and by sharing a piece of herself through powerful stories that are entertaining, thought-provoking and emotional.

What tips have you learned that help you create more value for your current and future clients?

So for business owners that want to put systems in place, create the perfect marketing strategy and technology your way to the top, remember that “Technology does not run an enterprise, relationships do” -Patricia Fripp

How has technology helped you gain an edge in relationship building with your current and future contacts?

Create powerful technology and strong systems. And then give of yourself, raise others up and don’t be afraid to let others see your greatness because when they see your gifts they will be drawn to what you can contribute and it will positively impact your business.

What do you think?

Decision making can be challenging. Here's an exercise based in Cartesian Logic that can help you get to the heart of the best decision for you.

Many times we have decisions to make and are not sure which way to go. The fork in the road can cause stress, frustration and anxiety if we are faced with a particularly difficult decision. Any decision is right, so just decide. And it is *always* a choice so as long as we remember that we can live with the results. In addition, as long as it is not our last day on earth, we can readjust and continue to move forward.

Ready, Fire, Aim is how I choose to live my life. If we wait forever to aim just right, we will never make a decision and will stagnate in comfortable misery.

The most important part of any decision is that it is made with integrity, honesty and compassion – for yourself as well as others.

Besides, as I learned recently, you can always make a good second impression even if the first one was not quite as you would have liked it. By learning to say “I’m Sorry” with sincerity and authenticity, we can rectify any damage we may have done.

If you aren’t sure which way to go on a decision, try this exercise which comes from Cartesian logic. Ask yourself the following:

1. What would happen if you do?

2. What would happen if you don’t?

3. What won’t happen if you do?

4. What won’t happen if you don’t?

We had another successful WebCenter Training (WCT) last weekend. It was an intimate group and I think that made it more fun because we could really interact and had time for lots of contribution from the audience. We had the training at a local restaurant in Poughkeepsie that is on the Hudson river so when it came time for lunch we all “retired” to the river view section of the restaurant and had a great meal with an amazing view – crab cakes, chowder bar, salad, pulled pork sandwich.

River Station Restaurant

I am preparing for our next WCT which is scheduled for December 12. We’ll be holding it at the same place – the River Station – which is actually also a website client of mine. I love when I can support a business owner client in my business. It strengthens the relationship and lets him know that I care about the success of his business.

The WCT is a great training for people that want to sell anything, and we focus on web site sales. I just got certified to train the class in August and have already led 3 trainings. The feedback so far has been positive and I am hoping to create a following as time goes by.

I am working on scheduling the 2010 Q 1 trainings and am torn. We have our local and MA World Conference that quarter and I was hoping to travel in March for my birthday so I may do a WCT in another part of the country – any suggestions?

I still need to flesh it out more but the training page for the WCT is up and working great. It’s a secure way to put the $35 ticket price onto a credit card and register at the same time.

I hope to see you at a WCT in the near future! In the meantime if you have recommendations where you would like to see me train, please leave comments here.

Here are some testimonials from class evaluations:

“Trista was very good at giving examples.”

“Trista is an excellent presenter. She did a fabulous job conveying all the material. She was also very knowledgable with using all of the technology to make the presentation a success. Thank you!”

“Trista was well preprared, very articulate and kept the class moving, interesting and entertaining. Additionally, as the class moved along my excitement level increased! Well done Trista!!!”

“(Trista was) very upbeat, kept info lively. (She) covered all topics thoroughly and was encouraging to all students; presented information in easy to understand (way) no matter what level of computer and internet experience. Very enjoyable.”

“Great job, learned a lot. I hope to benefit from this knowledge.”

<img class="size-medium wp-image-110" title="allthatinternet_training_learn_lead_success" src="http://www.allthatinternet.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/allthatinternet_training_learn_lead_success-300x225.jpg" alt="Learn.
